Raheem Sterling Talks Stall After He Rejects Second Contract Offer
Raheem Sterling’s contract talks at have reportedly stalled , after the England forward rejected a second offer from the Reds, according to the Mirror.
This has come as a huge surprise to the Liverpool hierarchy, as the club had planned on securing the future of the Premier League star this January, to help ease the pressure of the departing captain Steven Gerrard.
Reports claim that Sterling directly rejected Liverpool’s first contract offer to double his wages to £70k a week, as he deemed the offer unacceptable. However, Liverpool’s improved offer has been met with the same response, with the English superstar supposedly holding out for over £100k a week.
However, Liverpool remain adamant in pursuit of Sterling’s signature, with the player’s camp supposedly holding out for the right deal, with Rodgers’ claim of a deal edging closer, ever so false.
Liverpool, though, are well aware that their superstar wonderkid is being pursued by reigning Champions League winners Real Madrid.
Sterling has become an integral cog for both Liverpool and the England national team, and was awarded with the Golden Shoe in 2014, which crowns Europe’s best U-21 player.
As such, with Gerrard set to leave this summer, Liverpool are hoping that Sterling can play a crucial role in the club’s commercial activities as well as helping steer a new era on the pitch.
