David Beckham Calls for Harry Kane to Be Given England Call Up

David Beckham is backing Tottenham forward Harry Kane to be called up for England for next month’s matches with Lithuania and Italy, report the Guardian.

21-year-old Kane is having an incredible season for Spurs and has hit 22 goals in all competitions so far, ahead of the Tuesday night clash with Liverpool in the Premier League. Calls are growing for Roy Hodgson to hand the player his senior international bow in March and Beckham, who himself made his debut for England at the age of 21, echoed the idea.
Beckham said: “Being English, and seeing someone like Harry and the way he’s playing and the way he’s played this season, he’s having a stunning year.
“I think everyone is singing his praises, and rightly so. He’s 21, he’s working hard and has got a good head on his shoulders, so we will see. It doesn’t matter what age you are – if you’re good enough then you should play.”
Kane signed a new five year contract to stay with Spurs recently, in spite of talk that Spanish giants Real Madrid had cast their eye over the player.
