Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Sunderland: Another Late Erisken Winner Secures Spurs Victory

As already seen this season, Christian Eriksen produced a bit of magic late on to clinch an important win for Tottenham Hotspur.

Unlike victories against Hull City, Leicester City and Swansea City though, the home side thoroughly deserved the three points, dominating the Black Cats throughout the 90 minutes.
Spurs started brightly and were rewarded with an early goal thanks to Jan Vertonghen. The Belgian defender superbly controlled the ball in the Sunderland box following a set piece and his right-footed effort deflected off John O’Sea to leave Costel Pantilimon helpless.
Yet it was the Spurs goalscorer who unnecessarily gifted Sunderland their equaliser. Vertonghen fouled Jermain Defoe, who was making his club debut for the visitors upon a return to White Hart Lane, and free-kick expert Seb Larsson scored a peach of an effort from the resulting set piece.
