Diego Costa and Jordan Henderson Brawled in Tunnel After Capital One Cup Semi-Final
Chelsea and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final clash on Tuesday, but now a number of reports have revealed that a brawl took take in the Anfield tunnel after the game.
Tempers rose in the game’s closing stages, especially between Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson and the pair squared up to each other after leaving the pitch. No punches were thrown but the scrapping duo violently pushed and shoved each other had to be separated by one of Brendan Rodgers’ backroom staff.
The grievances started prior to the final whistle when Henderson wanted to take a quick free-kick, but was denied by Cesc Fabregas who refused to let go of the ball. As has been his character this season, Costa then got involved, squaring up to the Reds’ vice-captain.
It is said that it was Costa who restarted the argument in the tunnel, confronting Henderson again, but the Englishman refused to be intimidated and stood up to the Chelsea bully.
The two clubs will meet again in the second leg on Tuesday night with this incident adding even more spice to what already promises to be an intriguing affair.
