Biaggi returns to Aprilia for WSBK testing
Max Biaggi brushed off a crash to reacquaint himself with the Aprilia RSV4 he took to championship glory back in 2012 as he joined Red Devils Roma for World Superbike testing in Portimao.
Though the Italian – like fellow testers Ducati, Suzuki, MV Agusta and EBR – was hampered by poor weather in the Algarve region, as well as a tumble on the first day, he notched up 47 laps over the course of the two days.
Returning to action as rumours gather that he may make a surprise return to World Superbike competition with a selection of wild-card rides this year – beginning with the Phillip Island opener -, the 2010 and 2012 champion says he is simply pleased to get back to action.
“We really did not have a lot of time, especially when you consider the fact that the crash on day one limited me a bit on day two,” he said. “We’re still not at optimum performance levels, but we have already started working on a few details.
“I’m picking the automatism back up. It’s always great to get back on the track, but I have to get used to it again. I need to lap, so I hope we have nice weather in Jerez to do a good job.”
Aprilia did not release lap times for Biaggi.
