Lukas Podolski Sets Sights on Arsenal Return
Lukas Podolski has set his sights on a return to Arsenal once his loan spell at Inter Milan expires (via Sport Bild).
The Germany international joined the Nerazzuri on a six-month deal in January, but has struggled for form at the San Siro and was named as Serie A's second-worst winter signing - receiving 36 per cent of the votes.
Podolski, who was also left out of Roberto Mancini's squad for the Europa League , kept the door open on an Emirates return by ensuring that no permanent clause was inserted "The chapter is not closed with Arsenal, because there is no purchase option," explained the 29-year-old.
"I was the first person to clear things up in the talks with Inter and say I didn't want any kind of clause that would have let them purchase my contract rights.
"When you're on loan you never know what can happen, so at the end of the season we'll analyse things freely and decide the situation."
He added: "I still have a year left on my contract at (Arsenal) and always got along really well with the guys and the fans.
"But because I was not allowed to play a lot in my last half year, I needed to try something else.
"When I retire at one point, I can say that I have played in three top leagues: The Bundesliga, the Premier League and Serie A."
Mancini recently added to Podolski's list of critics, causing the World Cup winner to add: "At Inter there have been some negative situations, but I see the bright side in all of it.
