The Golden State Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns 98-80 on Monday evening for their 50th NBA victory of the season.
Stephen Curry scored 25 of his 36 points in a stunning second half which saw the Western Conference-leading Warriors outscore their opponents 52-34 at US Airways Center.
Atlanta had earlier on Monday become the first team to reach the 50-win mark, achieving the feat with a 130-105 triumph over Sacramento.
DeMarre Carroll and Kyle Korver scored 20 points apiece for the Eastern Conference-leading Hawks, with Rudy Gay’s game-high 23 points not enough to prevent the Kings from slumping to a fourth straight loss.
Washington halted a nine-game road losing streak with a 95-69 success against the Hornets in Charlotte, Marcin Gortat leading the way with 20 points for the Wizards.
The Miami Heat’s play-off hopes suffered a further blow – despite a 34-point haul from Dwyane Wade – as they went down 100-90 to Boston, Isaiah Thomas scoring 25 points off the bench for the Celtics.
Anthony Davis equalled a career-high with 43 points as the New Orleans Pelicans toppled the Milwaukee Bucks 114-103, while Marc Gasol’s 23 points helped the Memphis Grizzlies get the better of his brother Pau and the Chicago Bulls, 101-91.
JJ Redick poured in 26 points to spur the Los Angeles Clippers to an 89-76 triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Kenneth Faried had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Denver as the Nuggets overcame the New York Knicks 106-78.
