Thunder pile pain on clippers

A review of Sunday’s NBA action as the Los Angeles Clippers suffered a double blow.

Sunday turned into a rough night for the Los Angeles Clippers as they learned All-Star Blake Griffin will be out indefinitely with an elbow injury, and then suffered a heavy loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Griffin is scheduled to have surgery to deal with a staph infection in his right elbow on Monday.
Without him, the Clippers lost 131-108 to the Thunder, who were powered by 29 points from Kevin Durant and 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists from Russell Westbrook.
The Memphis Grizzlies pulled away late on to beat the Atlanta Hawks 96-88.
The game had been tied at 86-86 with 3:24 to go but Memphis then reeled off an 8-0 run to take the win.
Mike Conley finished with 21 points while Marc Gasol had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Kevin Love had a season-high 32 points and LeBron James collected 22 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Los Angeles Lakers 120-105.
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich remains stuck on 999 career wins after his team fell 87-82 to the Toronto Raptors.
James Johnson scored a season-high 20 points for Toronto while DeMar DeRozan added 18.
James Harden’s 45 points went to waste as the Houston Rockets fell 109-98 to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Houston wiped out a 17-point deficit to get their noses in front but Portland rallied once again as the Rockets felt the absence of Dwight Howard.
LaMarcus Aldridge scored 24 points and Damian Lillard added 23 for Portland.
DeMarcus Cousins hit a jump-shot as time expired as the Sacramento Kings beat the Phoenix Suns 85-83.
Cousins’ shot saw him finish with 28 points and 12 rebounds, and was far from the only late winner of the night.
Pau Gasol’s dunk with 9.4 seconds left lifted the Chicago Bulls to a 98-97 win over the Orlando Magic, while George Hill hit a lay-up with 4.9 ticks remaining as the Indiana Pacers edged the Charlotte Hornets 103-102.
Nikola Pekovic scored 29 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 112-101 win over the Detroit Pistons.
