Paddy McNair Signs New Manchester United Deal Until 2017
Paddy McNair has signed a new contract with Manchester United, the club have confirmed on their website.
The Northern Irishman’s previous deal was due to expire this summer, but he is now tied to the Red Devils until June 2017, with the option to extend his Old Trafford stay for a further year.
Manager Louis van Gaal, who confirmed last week that a new deal for the versatile defender had been agreed in principle, told the club’s website: “Paddy has risen through the ranks to become an integral part of the first team squad. He has all the attributes to develop into a top player.
“Promoting youth players is very important both to myself and to the club and I am delighted Paddy has signed a new contract.”
McNair, who has been at the club since the age of 12, has impressed in his breakout season so far, making 12 appearances in all competitions – 10 of which have been starts.
The 19-year-old said: “To make my debut for this great club earlier this season was a dream come true. I’m pleased to have signed a new contract.
“I have come through the Academy here and I feel I am improving my game all the time with the help of the manager, the coaching staff and my team-mates.”
