F1 Malaysian Grand Prix: Sepang still negotiating Malaysian GP F1 extension

Negotiations to keep the Malaysian Grand Prix and Sepang on the F1 calendar beyond 2015 remain ongoing as the current contract nears its conclusion

Officials at the Sepang International Circuit say they are still in negotiations to extend its contract to host to Malaysian Grand Prix ahead of what will be the final race of its current deal.
The venue, located around 50km outside the capital city Kuala Lumpur, has played host to the Malaysian Grand Prix ever since its inaugural race in 1999 and has become one of the more established flyaway races on the F1 calendar
However, Sepang and Malaysia’s place on the schedule beyond 2015 is not guaranteed as it stands and remains dependent on a new deal being reached.
Nonetheless, CEO Dato’ Razlan Razali remains optimistic that a new agreement will be in place by the time the race on March 29th takes place.
“We are still finalising our discussion with Formula One,” he said. “Unfortunately I can’t reveal any more than that. We just have to wait until the race weekend…
“Both parties have come to some kind of an agreement, but certain items – we are still discussing the finer points.”
