F1 German Grand Prix: Rosberg alarmed by German GP uncertainty

Nico Rosberg is perturbed by the prospect of a 2015 Formula 1 schedule without the ‘legendary’ German Grand Prix as doubts over the race grow

Nico Rosberg has expressed his disappointment that there is no guarantee his home German Grand Prix will go ahead in 2015 as doubts over its future grow.
Having already confirmed the race will be held at the Hockenheimring, rather than the Nurburgring as originally scheduled, a letter from Bernie Ecclestone to the venue appeared to suggest the event will be dropped altogether.
The German Grand Prix has come under particular scrutiny recently over financial concerns and falling spectator numbers, despite the relative dominance of Germany in F1 in recent years with Mercedes, Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel.
As efforts continue to try and save the race, Rosberg is alarmed to learn such a ‘fundamental’ race, which he won in 2014, could be missing from the 2015 schedule.
“For me, as long as I can think, the German Grand Prix has been legendary – like the British Grand Prix it is such a fundamental part of the Formula 1 season, so it is very disappointing that it has not been fixed yet into the calendar and not just for me but for all the German fans.
“There are so many motor racing fans in Germany and it has such a live representation in the sport with me, Sebastian, the other Germans, Mercedes… A big part of F1 is Germany so I hope it works out.”
