Fabio Capello: “Lionel Messi Is a Greater Player Than Cristiano Ronaldo”
Fabio Capello insists that Lionel Messi is more of a football genius than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former England, Real Madrid, Juventus, Roma and Milan boss, now in charge of the Russian national team, spoke to COPE’s ‘El Partido de las 12’ program and says that despite the troubles at Barcelona, Messi is the world’s best.
Capello could not resist but comment on Cristiano Ronaldo’s second consecutive and third total Ballon d’Or victory this week, saying he does not agree with the voting results.
“In World Cup year the Ballon d’Or has to go to a World Cup winner and that was Neuer.”
The Italian boss also addressed the Messi transfer rumours, as reports of Messi’s unhappiness under coach Luis Enrique has led to speculation of his possible Camp Nou exit. But the Russian coach argued that he cannot imagine how any club could sell a player like Messi.
“How can you sell Messi? I saw him against Atletico and he started badly in the first few minutes, when he was out wide, and he didn’t like it. Then he woke up and had a great game. You can’t sell a player like that.”
