Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes now is a good time to face their rivals Manchester United, reported BBC Sport.

FC Barcelona v Manchester City - UEFA Champions League Round of 16
City have experienced poor form of late with three defeats in five games, slipping into fourth position one point behind United.

However, the Sky Blues skipper is raring to go for Sunday's trip to Old Trafford.

"It's a good moment to go into a derby, said Kompany

"It's the perfect place for us to go and try to rectify what we've had."

"A derby is a derby. It doesn't matter what place you are in the league, it's a derby." He added.

Manchester City v Middlesbrough - FA Cup Fourth Round
Manuel Pellegrini's side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat on Monday at the hands of Alan Pardew's rejuvenated Crystal Palace.

Having dropped from second to fourth, City are now 66-1 for the title, with the gap between them and league leaders Chelsea now at nine points.

Despite the huge setback to their hopes of retaining the title, Kompany said it was important for City to get back on to the winning trail.

"My only concern is we get back to our best form," he said.

"I think it's our general form that we have to improve. I've learnt from the past seasons as well that finishing a season strongly can have an impact on your next season as well."
