Rayo Vallecano 0-2 Real Madrid: Ronaldo Scores 300th Goal as Los Blancos Keep Pace With Barca
Real Madrid were able to keep pace with table toppers Barcelona, sliding past Rayo Vallecano 2-0 on Wednesday night.
The Catalans led the table with a seven point lead over Los Blancos thanks to their win earlier Wednesday but Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted his 300th goal for Real Madrid, closed the gap back down to four.
The Ballon d’Or winner had his first chance of the night with 9 minutes on the clock after James crossed to the Portuguese forward only to send a first hit volley just wide of the net.
The home side produced a goal scoring opportunity in the 11th minute with Bueno flying down the left side and cutting inside, firing a shot that misses Casillas’ far post by inches.
Rayo Vallecano’s crowd were an animated bunch with every right to be as their side continued to knock on Real Madrid’s door, giving Ancelotti’s back line a full day’s work.
On the other end, Luka Modric sent a long ball to Gareth Bale in the 23rd minute with the Welshman netting it in but the goal ruled offside.
