Manuel Pellegrini Reveals ‘Great Affection’ for Real Madrid’s Isco
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed his admiration for Real Madrid playmaker Isco.
The Chilean worked with the Spanish youngster during their time at Malaga and has since seen him flourish for the European champions, having signed for them in 2013. That same summer, Pellegrini moved to Manchester and both achieved great success in their first seasons with their respective new clubs.
City have long been linked with a move for Isco – and were even in the running to sign him that summer – though Arsenal and Liverpool have also shown interest in him since. However, Pellegrini did little to dismiss rumours of his interest in the player after his recent glowing comments about him to Spanish publication AS.
He said: ”I have great affection for him. I was lucky enough to guide him during his passage to La Liga. He has to continue progressing because of his youth and because of the quality he has.
“He chose Real Madrid as his destination and I am happy each time that I see him.”
City signed Swansea forward Wilfried Bony on Wednesday after negotiations with the Premier League club came to an end, though Bony may not end up being available for the Premier League champions until February as he is currently on international duty.
